Challenges HIV Stigma
For years Metro Charity has been a valued partner and we’ve collaborated on diverse sexual health campaigns. We were thrilled to be asked to develop a VR concept for their Comic Relief-funded VID project. Despite medical strides, HIV disclosure stigma persists, causing anxiety among many young people about reactions from friends and family. Our goal was to develop a project fostering empathy, increasing understanding, and breaking down barriers surrounding HIV disclosure.
Goals & Outcomes
Informed by steering groups with young people living with HIV, we created 360° scenarios mirroring real-life situations, from disclosing to family to navigating HIV discussions while dating. Our goal was to support young individuals in confidently discussing their HIV status, raising awareness, and addressing barriers of stigmatisation and discrimination.
The experiences provide a safe, interactive space for exploring disclosure approaches, helping them prepare for real-life conversations.
Delivery
Considering the young demographic Metro Charity strategically showcased their new VR experiences on YouTube for maximum exposure. With over 30,000 views these interactive 360° videos are accessible on various devices, from smartphones to high-quality VR headsets. Additionally, they’ve been loaded onto VR headsets for widespread use at high-profile healthcare events.
